Mayr&Sattler has developed the bed load discharge model BM-AF (Bed load model - Adequate Fidelity) with help of a numeric bed load discharge model based on GIS. We have been advancing this technology ever since by using the analysis method ERO-SED (EROsion- SEDimentation). The hydraulics parameters are taken from a 2D hydraulics calculation and are then used in a simplified uncoupled model which is independent from the original 2D- hydraulics model.
This approach can be used in variable terms. The parameters used are the sediment input distribution at the respective time of a discharge wave, the representative grain size, and the wave continuance. For calibration we use adaption factors for wave continuance, average element amplitude and maximal possible degradation. The results are then scaled and evaluated.
Further development (additional transport models, derived 3D effects, program surface) is intended in 2010/11.
